1. Listen to what the other person is saying first – don’t interrupt when they are making their case
2. Make the other person feel good about themselves. If you can give compliments without seeming too obvious then do so
3. Find out why they have a different view. You might be able to meet their real needs in another way, which allows them to be convinced by your argument more easily.
4. ask questions. People are more likely to change their  mind if they are talking rather than listening
5. If possible, link your position with the other person’s value or aspirations. Don’t rely solely on logic.
