The Grand Excelsior Hotel….

My stay at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Valletta was great. Situated on the edge of Valletta’s historic old town, this hotel offers a unique blend of luxury and Maltese charm that makes it a true standout.

The hotel is perfectly positioned for those who want to explore Valletta’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The winding streets, stunning architecture, and historic landmarks like St. John’s Co-Cathedral and the Grandmaster’s Palace are just a short stroll away. Walking through these centuries-old streets felt like stepping back in time, with vibrant cafés and shops tucked into ancient buildings.

As soon as you arrive at the hotel, you’re greeted by an impressive entrance—grand, elegant, and with a touch of Maltese grandeur. The entrance hall is spacious, with high ceilings, opulent chandeliers, and stylish décor that set the tone for a luxury experience from the moment you step inside.

The harbour views from the hotel are nothing short of breathtaking. My room had a balcony overlooking the Marsamxett Harbour, with its sparkling blue waters and bustling activity of boats coming and going. The view at sunset, with the sun casting golden hues over the water and the city’s fortifications, was a highlight of the trip. It’s the kind of view you can’t get enough of, whether you’re sipping coffee in the morning or winding down in the evening.

The hotel’s amenities are top-notch, with everything you’d expect from a five-star establishment. The pool area is beautifully designed, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas, and the service was excellent throughout. I especially enjoyed the hotel’s private beach area, which provides a quiet spot to relax by the water away from the main tourist crowds. While the beach is more of a rocky shoreline, the access to the sea for swimming is well-maintained, and the water is incredibly clear.

The hotel offers a range of dining options, from casual poolside snacks to more formal dining experiences. The breakfast buffet was extensive, mixing local Maltese specialities with international dishes.

The spa and fitness centre was well-equipped and offered a range of treatments and facilities, including a sauna and steam room, perfect after a day of exploring Valletta’s historic sites.

Until da next Tyme
